How I pack for my trip

by Lu Lu on 17/06/2012

We went to San Diego for a 4 days trip, you probably already saw some fashion posts from this trip. Here is “how I pack for my trip”:  from how I choose what outfits and accessories to bring to how I keep them organized.

I have this amazing Garment Rack I got from Amazon in my bedroom. I use it all the time for my fashion inspiration and daily look. For most of the time,  I keep all  my current week outfits, or the blog outfits on the rack, it saves me so much time when I need to go out, especially in the morning, and I look pulled together and stylish when I need to:)

I decide what outfits to bring depends on our trip plan, and I write down every plan  on a sticky note, for example: Sat am-road trip. Sat pm-pier walk, Sun am-Balboa park, Sun night-dinner downtown, Mon am-La Jolla beach….Then I put together outfits for each activity, and pair every outfit with its accessories, shoes, and purse, and hang them all together.

I love this packing method, and I hope this is helpful for you.  It reminds me of all the staff I need for the trip, and also helps me avoid over-packing. What’s your packing tricks? Please share it with me:)

Have a great week my love!

Green garden salmon chopped salad

by Lu Lu on 12/06/2012

This salad is really tasty,  healthy and nutritious, and it is one of my favorite salads. It contains all the fiber and vitamin from  different veges and also the protein,  health fat and Omega 3 from Salmon.

Ingredients:  Spinach, kale, cucumber, lettuce, yellow pepper, white corn, (you can substitute any vege you like here, there is no rule for the vege)// Salmon//Toasted sliced almond//my little secret here:  marinated artichoke hearts, it will add so much flavor and texture to the salad. There are so many benefits from eating Artichoke, it is high in antioxidants, great for cancer prevention and treatment, increases bile flow, good for the liver and digestion, high in fiber….//Any salad dressing you like, you can make it yourself or buy it from store. The one I have here is “Sesame dressing” from “Feast from the East” I really love it, light and flavorful.

Steps: Chop all the vege nicely in about the same size, one tip for preparing the vege is that I prepare the kale first since it has a rougher texture, (see I prepare kale for salad here) Basically, I cut it in thin slides, add some lemon juicy, salt, olive oil to soften the kale for about 15 mins. Then I mix all the other chopped vege with the prepared kale in a big bowl. Now it is time for the salmon, just pan fried or bake it until it has a golden brown look from outside, add some lemon juice, pepper, salt before it is done. Mix the chopped salmon, toasted sliced almond and marinated artichoke in the big vege blow, add some dressing you like, and there you have it.

It is not the easiest salad to make it, but it is very fulfilling, and totally worth all the preparation.  Please let me know if you get a chance to try out this recipe, I would like to know if you enjoy it.

Bon Appetit my loves!

I have been loving kale salad recently. Kale is being called “the new beef”, “the queen of greens” and “a nutritional powerhouse.”  Kale is low in calorie and supper high in fiber, iron, vitamin  A, C, K, and super good for detox. I can’t not say enough good things about it.

Here is one of my favorite ways to eat kale, mixed kale salad: Dice kale really thin, first add olive oil, salt, half lemon juice, and mix with the kale really, really well, this is one of the most important part to make the leafy vege flavorful, leave it for 20 mins. Then add cucumber, dice yellow pepper, sesame, lightly candied walnut or any other vege you like to complete the salad.

Purple Smoothie

by Lu Lu on 27/03/2012

Ingredients for my purple smoothie: Purple grape, red grape, strawberry, black berry, cherry tomato. If add some non fat creek yogurt, it will be a great breakfast or pre-work out meal.

This smoothie is really fresh, sweet and sour,  a great source for antioxidant. ENJOY! :)

Orange smoothie

by Lu Lu on 21/03/2012

Guys, this is my orange version smoothie (I think the pretty color helps me to enjoy it more, that’s why I make my smoothies by color, lol~~) This orange smoothie is a lot sweeter than the green version, so this is a great meal substitute for breakfast on-the-go, or pre-work out meal.

Ingredients: Mongo (mine is frozen), Orange, Carrot, Red apple

It is always a good idea to add some surprise to our life. Bring a gift to the person you love even it is not V-day, B-day, Christmas, New year….

Green smoothie

by Lu Lu on 18/03/2012

I am drinking one smoothie everyday, this is my green version.

I think smoothie is really health, and great for the body and skin. Compare to juicing, it keeps all the fiber from the fruit and vege. I could not eat so many raw fruit and vege if it is not smoothie.

Ingredients (good for 2 big glasses): 1 green apple//1 kiwi//1 banana//grapes//spinach (add spinach last on the top)//ice//a little water (for blending purpose)
